Goodwill: I didn’t know you did that!

Goodwill Declutter + Donate = Change Lives!I’ve been a supporter of Goodwill for many years because I knew that the profits from what they sold in their stores benefitted those who were in need. But it wasn’t until I partnered up with Goodwill San Antonio three years ago that I learned just how much they did for the community.

Their mission statement is: Goodwill changes lives through the power of work.

And boy do they change lives. Check out their 2012 Impact Report! My goodness! Did you know your donations did ALL of that?!?

All of the clutter and no-longer-used items that you took to Goodwill generated millions of dollars in revenue in their stores. That money funded vital programs such as:

Fresh Start Program – Giving folks a second chance.
Ex-offenders register to be a part of this training program, which has only a 13% recidivism rate. The national recidivism average for ex-offenders one year after release from incarceration is 45%.

Good Choices Program – Assisting with a hand up and not a hand out.
This program provides all-encompassing support in job placement, financial counseling, career progression and health and wellness.

Good Careers Academy – Prepare. Place. Retain. Advance.
This program educates folks and gives them skills that will not only help themselves, but their children. Your donations gave these folks a future.

Your donations in 2012 allowed Goodwill to:

Serve 52,839 people

Keep over 200 individuals from returning to incarceration

Supply 450 workers through government contracts, 90% of whom have disabilities

Place 2,194 other people in jobs

Doesn’t it feel great to know that you contributed to saving people in your community – just by getting rid of “stuff” that’s taking up space in your home?

Thank you for what you do for Goodwill!

And please keep decluttering.
